The DSIC Introduces Our Revolving Art Wall

The Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporaton office has a nice new wall space to display local artwork! Our hope is to have the DSIC office as well as the vacant space next door to our office, open for displays during Art Night Schenectady (3rd Friday of each month) for a splash of fun on lower State Street, and we want you to join us.
We are now accepting ‘applications' for consideration consisting of artist bio, digital copies of all work to be displayed (nothing fancy or high tech, just representative), and the timeframe that work would be available for showing. Art work from a variety of artists will be shown year-round, with changeover of work to coincide with Art Night Schenectady, along with a reception that artists would co-host in our space, encouraging friends, family, and guests to attend, as well as encourage the public to join in as a part of Art Night Schenectady. A new exhibit will take place every few months, dependent on artists' availability and seasonal considerations. Please also be aware that it may take us a while to cycle through all requests, so please make sure to give us (if known) your availability throughout the year for yourself and for your work you'd like to display.
Selection of work will be based on the appeal to the broadest public and professional audience, as well as its ability to reflect an exciting, positive, and vibrant cultural environment, as we are set to promote here in downtown Schenectady. All work will be hung at the discretion of DSIC staff. Works are also encouraged to be sold provided that pricing and all other info is provided accordingly. Three dimensional as well as digital or interactive art is encouraged, consistent with the capabilities and specifications of the existing DSIC office space. Emphasis on downtown Schenectady, City and County-wide artists will be encouraged, as well as consideration for local and regional artists.

The main display wall measures approximately 11 feet wide,by approximately 8 feet tall. There are other smaller walls throughout the office, should additional space be considered additive or necessary to show. Times for hanging and taking down work will generally be available between 9am and 5pm, according to both artist and DSIC schedule, as well as by special request.
We will also be looking for local musicians to play in the new office during art night as a promotional opportunity for studio, classes, self, or place to sell music - CD's and other materials may be sold during performance, provided artist has appropriate tax ID certificate.
